Microdermabrasion

A diamond peel microdermabrasion treatment is a mechanical skin exfoliation technique that is similar to microdermabrasion and suitable for both men and women.

Diamond peel is a non-invasive, cosmetic procedure which removes dead cells, excess oil and dirt build up on the skin’s surface to reveal the brighter and younger skin underneath.  With this treatment you can see and feel the improvement and appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, even out a patchy complexion and reduce the occurrence of mild to moderate acne breakouts.

The Diamond Peel Procedure

Like microdermabrasion, a diamond peel removes the stratum corneum; the layer of dead cells that makes up the uppermost layer of the epidermis.  However, whilst a microdermabrasion treatment uses a small sandblasting tool that directs tiny aluminium oxide crystals at the surface of the skin, a diamond peel is crystal free.  The diamond peel wand has an abrasive diamond tip that gently loosens the dead cells, dirt and debris while the wand’s suction component vacuums them away.

Advantages of the Diamond Peel Treatment

The diamond peel can be used to easily treat some problem areas, such as crow’s feet and lip wrinkles, more than that of a traditional microdermabrasion treatment.  As a diamond peel doesn’t use crystals, the dermatologist can use the wand near sensitive areas without the risk of debris and/or crystals getting into sensitive areas, such as your eyes or mouth.  There is also zero risk of crystals becoming lodged within the skin or tearing the skin, which can occasionally occur with the traditional microdermabrasion procedure.

The Diamond Peel Experience

At Derma Aesthetics Clinic, Brentwood, our diamond peel treatments are painless and last approximately 45 minutes.  Once completed, you can apply makeup and resume your daily activities.  Potential side effects of a diamond peel are very minor.  They can include mild redness and a feeling of a mild sunburn (SPF30 sunblock is recommended when outside).  However, these symptoms last only a few hours.  For those patients with acne or have recently shaven skin, might experience some bleeding with the procedure, however, those with inflamed acne or other broken skin conditions should not undergo the treatment.
