Sculptra vs Profhilo: Which Is Right for You?

Sculptra and Profhilo are both injectable aesthetic treatments used to address signs of ageing, but they work in very different ways.

Understanding those differences can make it much easier to decide which approach may be appropriate for your concerns.

What Is Sculptra?

Sculptra contains poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) and is designed to stimulate the body’s own collagen production.

Rather than primarily providing hydration, Sculptra is chosen where gradual improvement in facial structure, firmness and age-related volume change is the main objective.

What Is Profhilo?

Profhilo is based on hyaluronic acid and is principally used to improve hydration, elasticity and overall skin quality.

It spreads through the treated tissue rather than being used to create defined facial volume in the way a conventional filler might.

Choose the Concern, Not the Product

If your main concern is that the skin feels dry, dull or less elastic, Profhilo may be worth discussing.

If the face has begun to look flatter, less supported or has changed as collagen and facial volume have reduced, Sculptra may be more relevant.

For some clients, more than one ageing process is present. Treatment planning therefore starts with your face and skin rather than with a predetermined product.

Is Either Treatment a Dermal Filler?

Neither treatment is used in exactly the same way as a conventional hyaluronic acid dermal filler. Sculptra is a collagen-stimulating injectable, while Profhilo is intended primarily to improve the condition and hydration of the skin.

Which Gives the Most Natural Result?

Both treatments are commonly chosen by people seeking gradual, subtle improvement rather than an obvious alteration to their appearance. The appropriate choice depends on what is causing the change you would like to address.
